Why do some believers and most non-believers reject the realities of a literal hell?

How do you ignore the writings about other religious and mythic afterlife locations that lack any tangible evidence for their actual existence? Just because its written in the Bible doesn't make it credible and true for many people. There are many far out religious and mythological writings that have no evidence for their claims and you can reject on the grounds of implausibility. Some people do so for your religious text you take on faith as well.
