Can stay on the plane if I'm flying southwest and have no plane change?

I'm flying from Dallas to DC but my plane goes from DAL to STL to CHI to IAD. Southwest has marked that I have no plane change but I was wondering if I have to get off the plane and get back on or can I just stay on. And if I can stay on can I move to a nicer seat? Any other southwest input is welcomed thanks!
