Is Nihilism a misused word?

I was just watching CSPAN and a caller was talking about how suicide bombers are nihilistic. This is at least the 4th or 5th time I've heard that word ( or variations) used in the last week in a negative connotation. Why do you think that people ociate nihilism as something bad?
